All the wires are pulled through and sheathed nicely. Now, I figured I would just put in a one-wire alternator and move along with my wiring. Ahhhh... it was not so simple. First off, the new alternator didn't fit the same way, and so I needed a slightly longer bar. Come to think of it, the old alternator was kind of crooked, but I didn't worry about it much.
Now, I had a tragedy when I tried to install the alternator. I cracked the tab by forcing a bolt through the hole. The rebuilt alternator had a spiral insert to repair the threads and the bolt was a bit loose. I cranked a bolt through, figuring I could use a nut on the other side. But, alas, the metal was weaker than I thought and I cracked it. Well, it was a dumb moment on my part. I should have known better. I can't blame the metal. Anyway, the cool thing is that my old alternator had the same case as the new one. The only difference is in the windings and the electrical components. Mark gave me a beautiful one-wire alternator that had been rebuilt. Here is the inside after I removed the case to swap:
