Identifying the Differential
The rear differential has a number stamped on the rear, pasenger side:
C-30294. I couldn't find this referenced anywhere.
There is also a patent referenced, US PAT 1968618:
This patent number is for a
driving axle from 1934. I found one reference to this patent number on the differential for
The Putt-Putt. The tag says 46-13 and 3.54. This means 46 ring teeth and 13 pinion teeth. 46/13=3.54. This is the ratio:
On the lower, rear, passenger side of the differential the type of differential is listed, at least on Dana/Spicer differentials. This is a Dana 44:
