A New Plywood Bed
The cross-braces are laid out waiting to have some plywood bolted on:
There three feet from the cab the fender starts. The fender takes three feet, and there is another two feed between the fender and the tailgate, at least for the long bed fleetside. Here I'm cutting out the hole for the right fender:

The head board is as wide at the base as the boards. I made the boards slightly wider because I wanted to make sure that the bed sides had something to rest on, even where the lip was rusted away:
