Removing the Tailgate
I've been puzzling over the way to approach Isabelle and her restoration. The old bed is off. This is quite easy with a rotten wooden bed vs. a steel bed. I have full access to the frame without having to remove the sides. The tailgate definitely needs some work, and I know I have to at least treat the frame and stop what rust I can on the sides. I decided to start with the tailgate today. Here is where the tailgate is held onto the sides:
I peeked down one of the stake pockets and saw a bees nest:

There are four blind bolts that hold the tailgate hinges to the sides:
